Things that inspire us at PAUL CROW

November 1, 2018

Today a blog about what inspires us at PAUL CROW, some tips on how to be a nice person around women and why an Outkast song is so important to us.

Some of the people at PAUL CROW that are working behind the scenes are late bloomers, we are not ashamed of that. It is never too late to become a creative on your own. The main song that inspires us -and makes us think back about our childhood in the 90s- is a song from Outkast called ‘Git up get out’. The song talks about how you ‘need to get up, get out and get something’, it basically means: get off your ass and work! Usually, when you want all kinds of things in life, the main problem is that you want to enjoy yourself, but you also want to have money. You want success, but you don’t want to work hard all the time. You like drinking and smoking on the weekends, and you love making music and art, but then again, it’s a lot of work. You say to yourself: tomorrow I will start for real. And sure, I’ll get a little high, but I won’t get too high.

The song talks about this: “So, what is the limit supposed to be? That must be why you can't get your ass up out the bed before three. You need to git up, git out, cut that bullshit out.”

We love that! It is so relatable. It is always tomorrow, and you keep telling yourself that.

The song is very old-school but still very relevant today.
Someone at PAUL CROW had a T-shirt back in the days with a part of the lyrics on it: Git up, Get out and Get something. Walking around looking cool but not living it and that is hilarious.

Every time we are getting lazy at PAUL CROW we turn up this Outkast song and we know where we came from. It is from the great album called: Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik.

The definition of an Outkast on the album is also nice and very relatable for us:

“An OutKast is someone who is not considered to be part of the normal world
He is looked at differently.
He is not accepted because of his clothes, his hair
His occupation, his beliefs or his skin color
Now look at yourself, are you an OutKast? I know I am
As a matter of fact, fuck being anything else
It's only so much time left in this crazy world”

Enough about the songs.

The songs are on YouTube if you like to hear it.

Another thing we are going to talk about is being a man in these times. Many of us find it very difficult these days. As a man you need to be manly, but you also need to be well dressed. So you need to look good, but can’t be too feminine. You need to be a loving man for your woman, but not too sensitive, because you also need to be tough.

So how you to be a man in the time of #MeToo?

For a start, you need to be nice to women, but don’t be a needy creep. So what is the right balance? Hard to say, but the main thing is: you need to listen and treat her like a human being, not like she is from another planet. That sounds very normal but believe me: a lot of men do this! Listen and show some real interest. Another thing: don’t make a move on every woman that you think looks nice. That is the biggest reason they almost become scared of us. Not every woman that looks nice is a potential bed partner. They certainly don’t see it like that. Instead, look for someone that stimulates everything in your personality – and not only one thing. Look for someone that motivates you and someone that keeps up with you. Become each other’s motivation to be and stay the best version of yourself and don’t feel the need to change the other all the time, but that is off course our idea. Just some tips.
